Easy Rider

Cover of "Easy Rider [Region 2]"Cover of Easy Rider [Region 2]
Let's kick it old school with the 1969 classic motorcycle flick "Easy Rider".
Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper star as drug selling biker hippies on a long ride across the U.S. They manage to get themselvs locked in fu**butt U.S.A. with an alcoholic lawyer played by Jack Nicholson. The beautiful irony comes when Nicholson gets them out of the pan and into the fire -- so to speak. I just hope ole Jack's conscience is clear.
The fellas ride on as any good hippie would, stopping at a commune and Mardi Gras then on again.  These two acid dropping, pot smoking roling stones are guaranteed to gather no moss in this classic.
After so much beautiful American scenery you won't want it to end... But like this review it has to.
But be warned -- its not pretty. And for that very reason I give "Easy Rider" 3.5 stars out of 5.
Great Americana, beautiful cinematography, outstanding soundtrack; but some bad surprises. It's a little too real life, but it's still well worth the five bucks and ninty six minutes it will cost you to see this unforgettable classic.

Just wanted to mention, this review was originally written before Dennis Hopper passed away. RIP to a fine actor, and one of my personal heroes.

Mumford and Sons

Prepare for another "British Invasion" kids because this English quartet is poised to take U.S. radio stations by storm. Their organic sound is fed by an array instruments (most of which are acoustic) coupeled with masterfully delivered folk lyrics makes for a refreshing change from today's "disposable" sounds.

Oh and the "sexy" British accent doesnt hurt any thing as far as the ladies are concerned.

Mumford and Sons aren't shy at all either -- be warned... They're not afraid of the "F" word. That said, the fellas aren't vulgar at all; these guys just make their point. So Mumford and Sons, according to Keener you didn't "really f**k it up this time".

You blokes did it exactly right with a 4.5 star out of 5 star rating. You would do well to bet that I'm going to be listening for years to come!

The Boondock Saints & All Saints Day Movie Review

My, my, friends and foes there’s a two for one special on "The Boondock Saints" read it while it’s uhh hot!
Anyway on to the review. The original was theatrically overlooked for the most part due to a certain unnamed school shooting. Tragically as if infected by some psycho "no one loves me so I’m going to shoot some innocent classmates cause I’m a crazy lil shit" disease, so was the second one. Don’t get me wrong I’m not making light of school shootings. I’m just saying good shit gets a bad break because of a couple of nut jobs.
With that said...ONWARD!

The Boondock Saints
Willem Defoe, Sean Patrick Flannery, Norman Reedus, David Della Rocco, Billy Connolly, and... Wait for it... Ron Jeremy (yes before you ask the short, round, balding but incredibly well endowed porn star) round out the note worthy cast members of this Acton packed vigilante crime fighting drama. Reedus and Flannery play Irish twins who happen to cross Boston’s Russian mob. After some sibling rivalry and LOTS of gun fire. They manage to cross the Italians too, thanks in large part to Rocco. Again, LOTS of gunfire is involved. Hell the pets aren’t even safe!
I’m sure you’re wondering about ole Mr. Defoe comes in.
He happens to be the genus FBI agent investigating all the dead bad guys. He has a few surprises for you so pay attention!
Hmm I almost forgot Ron Jeremy. He plays the seedy Italian underboss and his love for beautiful naked woman is a terrible vice. Connolly is last on our list of head liners but certainly not least! He has a secret of his own, that involves… you guessed it LOTS of gun fire.

Over all a great movie and even with the death of a charter you will fall in love with.
I give it 5 out of 5 stars, for colorful uses of the “F” word, a dead cat, family ties and LOTS of gunfire!
Look kids don’t rent this one buy it. You will watch it over and over!

The Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day

The boys are back in town for the long awaited sequel to “The Boondock Saints”, after their priest was heinously gunned down back in Boston. Flannery and Reedus shower and shave then hop a boat back to the States to lay down 6 feet of whoop ass on a 4 foot guy! Yeah funny I know, but the priest killer is only like 4 foot tall. Oh and FYI: my wife loved the shower scene, but there was way too much man rear for my liking!
Joined by most of the original cast, the fellas gain a few new allies in this bullet riddled sequel. Clifton Collins Jr and Julie Benz join our loveable fowl mouthed heroes for a vengeful journey, accompanied by LOTS gunfire.
A shoot out in a Mexican restaurant drives up the body count. There’s a lot of background story and we find out why Connolly is such a bad ass. To top it off, good ole Rocco makes an appearance with that splattered cat from the original.
There’s a bit of “cheese” in this flick and yet again some good men die but that kind of thing happens. There is a great surprise at the end as a familiar face, yet another, in the long line of visitors from beyond the grave.

So kiddos here it is 4.75 out of 5 stars. The nostalgia was great, and there was yet again LOTS of gunfire, the “F” word is used nicely and Rocco is, as always, hilarious. The down side is small but there none the less. You can’t kill off two good guys; one is bad enough. Don’t do that to us! It’s too "real life". There was a little too much cheesy slapstick faux action flick crap cluttering up an otherwise flawless movie.

Due to be released March 9 2010 to DVD; definitely a great buy at any price.

About Me

Movies, Games, Music.
It's my life.

I'm a husband, and father of two kids. I don't believe in censorship, my children watch the same movies and listen to the same music as I do. They have yet to shoot up a school.

A few years ago I worked in a video store. In a sense, I developed my own "cult following". Customers would stop me in public and ask for my opinions of movies, even after I quit. Some still do.
There are still roughly 15 people who call me on a weekly basis asking for my opinions.

As far as personal preferences, I enjoy movies with a plot line. I feel like movies today are centered around the stars. People overlook lower budget or even older movies. Might make me a movie snob. Oh well.
Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith, and Martin Scorsese are a few of my favorite directors.
I have to admit, I love gratuitous violence and obscure actors. I love seeing a bad actor make a good movie.

Music.
Strictly old school. Before 2003. Back when music was music, before "disposability" was king.
Think about it... People are still listening to music from the 90's but not from two or three years ago. Add the fact that "artists" today rarely work on their own. It's all collaborations, remixes or re-sampling.

Games.
Gratuitous violence, yet again.
Re-playability is major as well as online capability.
